"Eternity"

Black&White

Eternity is a surreal image that depicts religious themes for "Caritas Retreat". The image is the front cover of a booklet that is used on the retreat. The flowering hand grows from an ocean of nourishment. The crows and the swans begin to sprout branches of their own and illustrate the idea that growth happens in death and in life.

This is the back cover to the booklet that will be used on the "Caritas Retreat". The image shows a coy fish merging with a tree to become one life form. I have left the naming of this piece to the core team.

"Vulpes"

22X30

10 days of work for a total time of: 24:55:00

Vulpes is a self portrait that expresses my connection with a red fox. The red fox is displayed as a scarf to suggest that I wear the symbol and the connotations that the fox represents. The attributes of the fox are directly expressed as it hangs from my neck as oppose to being a separate entity. It is not an implied symbol that the fox represents me, but I am the fox as much as the fox is me.

"A Voice Cries Out in the Wilderness (But No One Listened)"

14 days of work for a total time of: 35:20:47

A Voice Cries Out in the Wilderness was conceived around Christmas time. I remember sitting in mass and listening to the song "A Voice Cries Out in the Wilderness" and my vision was this piece. The piece comments on human values and actions as they relate toward one another and nature. The owl faced man calls out to the audience but no one hears him, or chooses not to listen. The Owl was chosen as a symbol of silence to comment on the irony that this piece displays. His cry so desperately wants to fill the ears of the masses, but it will not be heard; and if it is, it will not be understood. View the sketch in the Fine Art gallery under "Sketch This".

"Lupus, Chicago 2010"

19X24

This is my interpretation of human rage. The transformation of a person as they shift from one emotion to another is displayed by their body language and, most importantly, their face. I have taken this idea of transformation and connected it to an animal.

“The Hypnotist”

14X17 in

The Hypnotist is a piece meant to be almost uncomfortable for the eyes to view. It is my hope that the viewer perseveres and enjoys the many intricacies of the image. The piece was done with a crow quill.

“Pan”

11X14 in

Peter Pan is one of the most interesting characters that I have ever read about. This ink illustration depicts Peter at the moment he returns home to see that he has been replaced. He is consoled by his temptress Tinker Bell, as she whispers words of malice into his ear. The dejected look he gives the viewer will change to anger as he gains all the confidence, swagger, and pride he will need to rule Neverland.

“Hummalia”

19X24 in

This is the finished black & white version of the background done with a crow quill. I will water color the background to complete the piece. This will create an interesting contrast between the large graphite figure and the color background.
